As a spine and neurosurgeon for over 20 years, Imad Abumeri, MD, FAANS, FACS, brings unmatched expertise to his patients at Comprehensive Neurosurgery & Spine Institute, located in Bakersfield, California. He specializes in brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, skull base surgery, hydrocephalus, trigeminal neuralgia, and complex spine surgeries using minimally invasive techniques to treat trauma or degenerative conditions.

Dr. Abumeri did his medical schooling at Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco. He completed his residency at the renowned Faculté de Medicine at the Université Paris-Descartes in France. After he arrived in the United States, he did another residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, the major teaching hospital for the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Toledo in Ohio.

Dr. Abumeri received mentorship from Dr. Roberto Heros, a recognized authority in the field of cerebra-vascular and skull base surgery. He also trained with Dr. Barth Green, a noted leader in spine surgery and the founder of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and the Buoniconti Fund in Miami.

With his years of extensive training and first-hand experience, Dr. Abumeri provides comprehensive care that takes advantage of the latest diagnostic and treatment methods available in his field. His practice aims to find the most beneficial approach to each individual patient’s needs while minimizing risks and adverse side effects.

Dr. Abumeri is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a diplomat of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
